Welcome
Mrs. Foster teaches general music at St. John's Lane Elementary School. She received her Bachelor's degree in music education from Ithaca College, in Ithaca, N.Y., and her Master's degree in Kodály music education at the American Kodály Institute, part of Loyola University.
Mrs. Foster's classes primarily follow the Kodály philosophy of music education, which holds that the voice should be a student's first and main instrument. In a typical class, students will sing a variety of folk and game songs. Additionally, every lesson will contain some combination of other musical activities, including movement and/or dancing, playing classroom instruments, listening, reading, writing, improvising, or composing.
I hope this site can be a useful resource in continuing your music-making at home. For more information about what we are doing in class, please check out my blog. I will try to make sure this resource is updated on at least a monthly basis. If you are looking for specific songs that we are doing, you can check out the songs page.
Announcements:
Our spring chorus concert is Tuesday, May 24! Practice recordings will be out soon!
If you would like to contact me, you can email me at [email protected]
